Transitioning to clean beauty//6 of my favorite products

Over the last few years clean beauty has been trending and becoming a prominent focus in the beauty industry. More people are becoming conscious of what’s in their products, and how those ingredients can impact their health. If you dive into the ingredients in many skincare and cosmetic products, you will find they can be flooded with potentially harmful chemicals that we don’t want absorbed into our bodies through our largest organ, the skin.

Transitioning to clean beauty products may initially seem like a daunting task, but it’s a big step towards reducing the toxic load on our bodies and promoting overall health.

Here is a quick and easy guide to help you get started on creating a cleaner routine:

1. Research What Clean Beauty Is

The first step is to educate yourself about clean beauty. Clean beauty products are formulated without ingredients like parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances that may have adverse effects on our health. Look for brands that are transparent about their ingredient sourcing and manufacturing practices. Familiarize yourself with certifications and labels that indicate a product is clean, organic, or natural.

2. Take Inventory of Your Current Products

Go through your skincare and cosmetic collection and take note of what you currently use. Check the ingredient lists of each product to identify any harmful chemicals you want to avoid. Apps like EWG’s Skin Deep database can help you assess the safety of ingredients. This step will give you a clear understanding of where to begin replacing products.

3. Replace Harmful Products

Once you’ve identified products containing toxic ingredients, start replacing them with clean alternatives. Focus on everyday essentials like moisturizers, serums, and sunscreens, as these products have prolonged exposure to your skin. Look for products that prioritize natural and organic ingredients, and consider trying out samples before committing to full-sized purchases. Consider replacing one product at a time as you finish your current ones. This approach not only makes the transition more manageable but also allows you to research and select products that align with your values and skin needs.

4. Celebrate Your Progress

Transitioning to clean beauty is a journey, and every step forward counts. Celebrate each product swap and milestone in your journey towards healthier skincare. Recognize the positive impact your choices are making on your body and the environment.

5. Embrace the Journey

Embracing clean beauty is not just about replacing products; it’s about adopting a lifestyle that values health and sustainability. Enjoy exploring new brands and discovering effective clean beauty alternatives. Embrace the opportunity to support ethical companies that prioritize your well-being and the planet.

6. Remember Balance is Key

It is okay if every item in your routine isn’t clean. I have been searching for products that are cleaner and can’t always find a comparable clean option that works well for my skin type. Like most things in life, its about creating balance that works for you :).

Happy cleansing!

6 of my Favorite clean beauty products

These are products I have purchased over & over again, and are always in my cabinet.

(Keep in mind these products may have worked for my skin, but may not work for everyone. For reference, I have acne prone combination skin).

  1. Eminence: Stone Crop Gel Wash

I use this face wash nightly as the second step of a double cleanse. I live in Colorado, and it is a veryyyy dry climate, so having a wash that is gentle and doesn’t dry out my skin is key.

  2. Osea: Anti-aging body balm

Again, living in Colorado is tough on my skin. This body balm gives a really pretty sheen, doesn’t clog my pores, and hydrates my skin really well.

  3. Venn: Probiotics Cica Complex Biome Booster

This is a serum that I use at nighttime. This product has helped regulate some of my adult acne issues.

  4. Tower 38: SOS Daily Barrier Recovery Cream

I use this moisturizer typically at night over my Venn serum. Its a bit thicker, very hydrating, and does not clog my pores!

  5. Vintners Daughter: Active Botanical Serum

This product is more of an oil consistency, and I will use it as the last step in my skincare routine. I have been using this oil for years, and it makes my skin so glowy.

  6. Juice Beauty: SPF 30 Matte Oil-free Moisturizer

Sunscreen often makes me break out, and this one never gives me any issues. I don’t necessarily love the texture of this, but it works well, doesn’t pill under makeup, and smells good.

I hope these recommendations provided some value. Thank you for being here!

XO, Dr. Jaclyn
